657 East 98th Street
Brooklyn, NY - 11236

Formerly called the Brownsville Halfway House, this facility was renamed the Brownsville Community Residential Center (BCRC) in 2003 to reflect a re-visioning of the program\'s mission.

The Brownsville Community Residential Program is a twenty-one (21) bed co-ed community residence that provides a structured supportive environment for persons between the ages of 18 and 65 who have been diagnosed with a Chemical Dependency problem. During their stay, residents of the facility receive at least ten (10) hours of planned supportive group sessions per week designed to assist them in their recovery from chemical dependency. There are also on-site Alcoholics Narcotics Anonymous meetings and individual counseling. Residents also attend a Chemical Dependence Out-Patient treatment program on a daily basis.

The facility is directed by Mr. George Towe, whose extensive experience working with chemically dependent individuals has helped him transform the program into one of the most highly rated and regarded programs of its kind.

Mr. Towe is ably assisted by a small but determined staff, including Ms. Eloise Perez, the Assistant Director, a Chemical Dependency Counselor, two Residential Case Managers, and several per-diems who are also qualified counselors, a driver/maintenance, cooks and an administrative assistant.

The Brownsville Community Residential Program has served over 200 residents since it was established in 1998 and boasts a high success rate of recovery. Both the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene have rated the program EXCELLENT.
