Herring Houses of Dothan is a long-term substance abuse residential treatment facility in South Alabama.

We provide a safe, supportive, supervised, alcohol and drug-free living environment for recovery. For men striving to achieve serenity, and those working on maintaining emotionally and spiritually balanced lives who require a structured environment as they re-enter the work place and community, The Herring Houses of Dothan is The Positive Place to Be!
We must have your approximate release date or the actual date you need a bed. All referrals must be discussed with Mr. Jason Solowes, Assistant Director, who coordinates all admissions into our program.

You must have at least 72 hours of verifiable clean time to enter our program if you are coming from a detox facility, be approved by staff, and have a history of prior treatment experience.

We prefer that all clients come door to door from a primary, in-patient treatment facility (between 2-3 weeks at one of the private, insurance-based in-patient treatment facilities, OR 28-days at one of the State Department of Mental Health facilities, for example).

For all other referrals to our waiting list, such as clients who are currently incarcerated or who are referred to our program directly from the client's family, a treating physician, primary counselor, a District Attorney's office, Drug Court or private attorney: These must be discussed with the Assistant Director, who manages the waiting list and oversees all admissions to our program.

A total of $320.00 is due upon intake. Your first two week's rent of $280.00 is included in this intake amount and is required for you to move in to our facility. There is also an admission fee of $40.00 to cover reports to the courts (throughout your stay here), urine drug testing, initial chart set-up, etc. (The total admission cost of $320 is non-refundable once you have moved into our program.)

All prospective residents are encouraged to complete a primary treatment program for alcohol or drug dependency, as well as a residential questionnaire form and interview with a staff member prior to becoming a resident.
